Most people have grown up watching Disney Princess movies, and while they do have some rather problematic messages for young people, they’re just so magical to watch that we cut them some slack. Sure, Ariel gives up her entire life for a man, but she also sings some seriously catchy songs and taught us all how to brush our hair with a fork. Jasmine may have been an overly sexualized damsel in distress, but she at least refused to marry a man she didn’t love and was able to fall for a guy with no money who probably smelled pretty terrible.
