With over 10 years and more than 200 episodes, ABC’s longest-running comedy series Modern Family has reached its final season. With its colorful cast of characters and generally inclusive atmosphere, Modern Family is loved by millions of viewers the world over.

The characters range from quirky and flamboyant to lax and traditional, and there’s a character with whom we’re sure everyone can relate to. It’s probably because the show’s creators Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan used their own families as inspiration for the show’s premise. As the two shared stories about their family with one another, the epiphany came to them that lead to their creation of the show.
