Every good hero or heroine needs a mentor, someone who will guide them through the new and wild worlds that they explore as they come into their own. This goes doubly true when we’re talking about magic and fantasy: a wise old wizard, or perhaps even a talking lion (who is definitely actually Jesus).

These magical mentors dispense wisdom to the heroes of stories and also to all of us. After all, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
